Africa: Mombasa & Zanzibar Pictures

A brief visit to Mombasa, Kenya.

Leaving Kenya, we finally saw Mt. Kilimanjaro

By now, Mikol was sorely missing Loki. You can't even imagine her surprise and joy to be greeted in Zanzibar by his clone who was an unapologetic begger named Jazz.

Zanzibar is, in a word, "Paradise".

The positively horrible view from Mikol and Jeremy's cabin.

"In 1698 Zanzibar fell under the control of the Sultanate of Oman, which developed an economy of trade and cash crops, with a ruling Arab elite. Plantations were developed to grow spices, hence the moniker of the Spice Islands." Spices are still an important part of their economy. As such, we went on a spice tour, where one of our guides used palm leaves to weave us several accessories as we walked.

While touring Stone Town, we encountered a church with some great chairs. Below is Jeremy contemplating the origins of good and evil.

An early riser in Zanzibar can be treated to a magnificent sunrise. One morning in particular began with what looked like a tiny mushroom cloud on the horizon, and turned into a truly epic daybreak.

The tide being out provided fantastic opportunities to collect beautiful sea shells.

Can't you just feel the waves? It's almost like being there.

Next stop in the photo deluge is Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
