Africa: Safari Pictures (Round Two)

Baby baboon!

Grey crowned crane.

This porter impressed us all. This backpack on her head is heavy.

Beware of wild animals.

This was the traffic jam we found when we almost but not quite saw a leopard.

A Topi variety of antelope.

A Maasai village. When they move on, they take the whole village with them. We met several of the Maasai along our journey through Africa. We also donated some pencils to a village for the young school children who always need more of them.

A lone Hyena will put a huge herd on guard. Two of them, will get a huge herd running. We have video of the one pictured below, and his buddy scaring off this massive herd. We'll try and post the video after we get back to the states.

Every time we saw a lion, we just had to stop and take a virtual truckload of pictures.

As I was saying...

Warthog!

At this one location, we saw lots of flamingos.

The African or 'Cape' Buffalo is one of the animals most dangerous to humans in Africa.

From Wikipedia: "Known as one of the "big five" or "Black Death" in Africa, the African Buffalo is widely regarded as a very dangerous animal, as it gores and kills several people every year. Buffalo are sometimes reported to kill more people in Africa than any other animal, although the same claim is sometimes made of Hippopotami, Crocodiles and bees. Buffalo are notorious among big game hunters as very dangerous animals, with wounded animals reported to ambush and attack pursuers."

Mikol playing with a towel at one of the lodges. It wasn't too long after this, when most of the women we saw were similarly clad.

Next up... Mombasa, Kenya, and Zanzibar, Tanzania. Beach towns ahoy!
